Mining MD Kedi Ilimbit.
Concerns have been raised regarding the perceived influence of groupthink, potentially stemming from shared affiliations within the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, within the Marape/Rosso government. This influence is alleged to contribute to biased and narrow perspectives, potentially undermining national interests, particularly in areas of economic, socioeconomic, law and order, fuel and food security.
To address these concerns and ensure good governance and transparency,
it is suggested that Prime Minister Marape take the following actions:
replace the current Chief Secretary with a qualified and experienced individual
who is not a member of the SDA Church; replace departmental secretaries
who are members of the SDA Church; appoint advisors who are not members
of the SDA Church; and replace Cabinet Ministers who are members of the
SDA Church. Furthermore, it is suggested that the Prime Minister, Chief
Justice, Speaker of Parliament, Governor General as members of the SDA
Church consider resigning to preserve the integrity of the three arms of
government (Executive, Legislative and Judiciary)
Should these actions not be taken, Prime Minister Marape's,resignation,Speakers resignation, CJ's resignation and GG's resignation is urged, as the nation is perceived to be heading in a detrimental direction due to potentially compromised decision-making by the head of the Exdcutive government. If neither of these actions occur, Members of Parliament are called upon to address these issues during the March 2025 parliamentary session. Failure to act may result in increased socio-economic instability, lawlessness, and violence against citizens and public servants. To safeguard the national economy, the credibility of the SDA Church, and Prime Minister Marape's own integrity, a change in leadership is deemed necessary. Disclaimer: This statement does not implicate the SDA Church as a whole. It is acknowledged that the SDA Church has a responsibility to distance itself from any potentially questionable activities of Prime Minister Marape and other SDA members within the government. The current climate of widespread lawlessness and public dissent regarding the Prime Minister's leadership necessitates a clear separation. Continued silence from the church may lead to public suspicion and the perception of complicity in alleged corruption. Therefore, it is suggested that financial institutions in Papua New Guinea monitor the bank accounts of the SDA Church to ensure they are not being used for illicit purposes.
